1, 229 tucked in the corner awaiting attention 4, Offside, plenty of paint still to come off the roof. 2, Out in the open at last. 3, and thuther side as well. 5, Bit of a duff back end. 7, A more original back end, but needs plenty of grafting on yet. 6, Front. 8, The exit step felt a bit soft, so started digging with a screwdriver. erm ooops. 18, Pope John Paul the Piston. Well its a Holy one. 19, Out with the old, in with the new. Piston that is. 20, New filters waiting to be fitted, oil, air & fuel. 9, A step in the right direction I hope. 10, Getting to grips with a smokey engine problem. 17, Pistons out. One pushed a liner out as the rings cought on the ring of carbon deposit at the top of the liner. 13, That funny shaped bit at the other end to where the pistons are. 15, 11, Heads off, pistons out, just like that !!!!!! 12, 14, Bottom end from a different angle. 16, Injectors. Only had to replace one. Rest were ok. Looking wealy good after stripping and repaint, nearside front wheel. NS rear arch cleaned & silvered, wheels on next. 21, The engine rebuilt and running, silvered and alot less smokey.

My first encounter with an Ipswich bus, in Skegness with Roadcar. A good reason to visit Lincoln is this ex Ipswich bus. Dennis Falcon of Ipswich Buses with East Lancs bodywork. Dennis Falcon - Ipswich Buses this with a more pleasing to the eye design of body. Someone in Lowestoft will be proud of me for this rear end shot of a Dennis Falcon. Ipswich Buses - Dennis Falcon these buses dwindleing in numbers around Ipswich. Ipswich Buses 147, Bristol RE - Alexander. Still nice. Optare bodied Dennis Lance is not a common combination, again Ipswich Buses. Open top Leyland Atlantean of Ipswich Buses. More encounters with ex Ipswich Atlanteans with Roadcar into a Skegness evening. Leyland /Bristol B21's. Either way. Yum! Ex Lancaster City Transport (LCT) Optare Metrorider with Ipswich Buses. At last an Ipswich Atlantean in Ipswich. One of those nice Alexander bodied B21's again. Optare products have been trundling around Ipswich for a while now. Ipswich Buses have been taking in used examples of Leyland Olympians 45 is ex London. Nicely turned out ex Ipswich Atlantean at Roadcar in Lincoln. Another ex Ipswich Atlantean looking well, again with Roadcar.

Carloline Seagull AEC Reliance 6546 FN seen at the Carlton Colville event July 2003 C & G Travel with a Berkof rebodied AEC Reliance, a former East Kent chassis. Thornes still operate this AEC Reliance with Plaxto Derwent body. Morecambe & Heysham again number 79 TTB 688. A fairground AEC on Englefield Green. August 2004. AEC Reliance JIW 4045 (EBM 459T) still earning a crust Summer 2002. Ipswich Transport Museum with Ipswich 1 ADX 1. The same day as SY 84 was off route, AEC Reliance operates in the opposite direction. London Transport RT in its latter days as a driver trainer. Not being a Londoner, but Marble Arch was behind me, which would make it Hyde Park Corner? It was a long time ago circ 1978/9 ish.

Shorty, thin MCW Metrorider in the dark depths of the bus station. Long Metrorider in the darkness of the bus station. Great Yarmouth Transports Caister Road depot 18th Sept 2003. Nicely spruced up and no First banner. Seen when new at the District Hospital 'VOLVO B10M' 'VOLVO Alexander'. The busy bus terminus at the District Hospital and Carlyle Dart 56 when new. Great Yarmouth 51this time with flipdot destination, less cluttered badging and adverts. Rainy day in Gt Yarmouth and a Bristol VR, all gone now though. Gt Yarmouth Bus Station, not the best for bus photography, but seen in its original guise is East Lancs Dart 62. Great Yarmouth 57 (First BlueBus 417) seen in the last manifestation of First Blue Bus livery before Barbie 2. Volvo B10M of Great Yarmouth when almost new.

Hunt's of Alford Falcon 3, well travelled but new to Chesterfield. Hunt's of Alford once had a liking for Bristol LH's. Bristol LH with ECW bodywork, originally Lincolnshire Roadcar. Parked at thier Skegness terminus is Hunt's Leyland National. Ex Southern Vectis Bristol VR with Hunts of Alford.

Stood at the terminus at Snow Hill is tram number 9. Blackpools rebuilt Trams. You either love em or hate em. Another one in all over advert livery. Very nice restoration of Blackpool VAMBAC 11 at the East Anglian Transport Museum. End of the line at Pheonix Park, Park & Ride is Nottingham Tram 203.

Nottingham City Transport aquired Scania with East Lancs body. Not up on my Nottingham Buses. So its either a rare, beast Leyland Lion or a bit more common Volvo Citybus? After conversion to single doorway Roadcar now operate three ex Airport Optare / DAF Delta's. One of the latest new buses into the fleet is Optare Solo 108 FX53 AYC. Scunthorpe 27.10.03 April 2004 addition to the fleet is one of six Optare Solos. 111 is at Skegness. One of a number of ex Blazefield Volvo's in the Traction Group is Roadcar 233 N453 HWY at Scunthorpe. Ex Nottingham National II in Scunthorpe with Roadcar. Ex Cardiff Plaxton Verde bodied Scania now with Roadcar in Gainsborough. Possibly destined not to be around for much longer. National II. Scunthorpe 27.10.03 MCW Metrorider was new to East Midland. Wadham Stringer bodied Leyland Tiger taken into the fleet with the takeover of Eagre of Gainsborough. In from A recent repaint is East Lancs Olympian, standing in Louth depot. In for the 2004 summer season and ousting ECW Atlanteans are ex West Midlands Metrobuses. Here basking in the badly placed evening sun at Skegness. A recent Roadcar special livery is LO603 ECW bodied Olympian to celebrate 75 years of Lincolnshire Roadcar. One of many ex West Midlands Metrobuses with Roadcar. This one in Scunthorpe. No apologies for a second helping of Leyland B21 / Alexander 259. Always on the lookout for second hand buses. A Roadcar acquired Dodge. Just in case you've missed it under the Anglia Region, a fine Roadcar Atlantean. Another fine Atlantean with Roadcar in Skegness. The elegant lines of an Alexander bodied Leyland Leopard. Leyland Atlantean, ex Ipswich in the evening at Skegness with Roadcar. East Lancs bodied Bristol VR originally City Of Lincoln. A good reason to visit Lincoln, to sample the delights of this super motor. A Volvo B6 of Roadcar in Mabelthorpe. Ex West Riding Alexander The Yorkshire Traction Group have rebodied many vehicles over the years, this is just one of them. Leyland Tiger. Low floor purchases at Roadcar include this Dennis Dart with East Lancs body. Ex Ipswich Atlantean repainted into Roadcar colours, eventually. Transfered in from parent, Yorkshire Traction is Plaxton bodied Leyland Leopard. Yorkshire Traction hand down is Merc mini number 3. Roadcar acquired City of Lincoln Transport, here Dodge 74 still in Lincoln livery exiting Lincoln Bus Station. Seen in as acquired livery before being painted into fleet colours is Dodge D308 MHS. After the Roadcar treatment, good for another few years. One of many far flung ex Manchester Atlanteans so Roadcar had to get a few. These ex Ipswich Atlanteans looking well after repaint into Roadcar livery. An East Lancs re-bodied Leyland Atlantean acquired into the Traction group with Sheffield Omnibus. 65 years of Lincolnshire Roadcar liveried Bristol VR ECW at Winthorpe. Thats near Skegnes to you and me. Roadcar Volvo B6 with East Lancs body and Lincoln City Transport fleetnames. Roadcar got some of there own Optare Metroriders new, but also got this used example of the MCW variety. A new to Roadcar bus is Optare Metrorider 353 in Scunthorpe. Super Buzz liveried Dennis Dart with East Lancs body and bee flying to the offside in Scunthorpe. With a hefty passenger load is special liveried Roadcar (ex City of Lincoln) Olympian. Roadcars acquired Dodgey phase. Still going strong in the Roadcar fleet early 2003 is ex Eastbourne Atlantean, seen in Scunthorpe. Leyland Atlantean to Roadcar via Longstaffs of Mirfield and Black Prince of Morley. The Yorkshire Traction Group has been getting a fair old woj of ex West Midlands Metrobuses. This one is with Roadcar, seen in Newark. Yorkshire Traction Group maintains a good size coaching unit. Roadcar here doing their bit. Cascaded from parent YTC Bristol VR / ECW with DP seats for Coachlink duties. Chubby Duple bodied Leyland Tiger.

Back end of 211 JHE 511E DP Leopard. Almost finished re-paint 337. A rather attractive Northern Counties Leyland Titan PD3A. Long gone B & D National in Sheffield Pond St Bus Station one Saturday evening. One of the latest in a crowd of used vehicles to enter service within the YTC Group. Ex Blazefield. Photographed over the fence, anything for a shot of a new bus, now in their twilight days. National 2's that is. Leyland National II of Yorkshire Traction in Doncaster South Bus Station. The second of two Spartans for Yorkshire Traction seen in Barnsley Bus Station. A Yorkshire Traction aquired Scania. Going back a while YTC aquired this Leyland National, new to Plymouth. National Bus Co. days with an early Leyland Atlantean of Yorkshire Traction. An MCW Metroliner MkII or lowheight of Yorkshire Traction, either way not many were built. Ex Yorkshire Traction Bristol VR with PMP. Seen in Rotherham when nearly new YTC National II number 212. If memory serves me right one of the last vehicles in pre-NBC YTC livery was Leyland PD3 728. Diverted Sheffield Transport Daimler Fleetline that went to Yorkshire Traction. YTC National II, Shafton Depot. Photo by Ian @ Yorkshirebus. Departing the now closed Doncaster North Bus Station is a YTC's recently aquired Metrobus. Operating on loan to Yorkshire Traction is Leyland Lynx demonstrator. In National Holidays livery Leyland Leopard with Duple bodywork. After transfer to Roadcar and eventual withdrawl 802 ended its days as an engineless billboard at Skegness Stadium.s It seems a long time since poppy red buses were running at Tracky, but heres Olympian 647 when nearly new and its still running today, but not in poppy red. Also in poppy red is part of the same batch of Olympians. Still in service 2003 though.

Ex West Riding Alexander bodied Fleetline in service with Andrews of Sheffield. When part of the British Bus Group West Riding Transferred vehicles within the group , this being one of them. An ex West Riding breadvan finding further service with Crown Coaches. Seen at Ingoldmells in service with Enterprise & Silver Dawn ex West Riding Bristol VR. Ex South Yorkshire Motors through British bus to Crosville, a Northern Counties Olympian. Sheafline of Sheffield acquired ex West Riding National. A transferre within the Caldair Group this time from West Riding to the Tees & District banner of United. Like many photos taken in the old Wakefield Bus Station Bristol RE 306 with a lamp post growing out of the roof. A little further back and a Guy Arab working a peak hour extra on the 110 to Kettlethorpe. West Riding Caldaire days and a Renault/Dodge demonstrator. Realocations in the Caldaire Group would see similar vehicles come to West Riding from United. Alexander bodied Volvo 651 in Belle Isle yard. Arriva Yorkshire with a couple of dumped Volvo B10M Citybuses from Medway Towns. Not exactly pleasing to the eye these hand outs from the South. A bit better looking Northern Counties, will add value to the company and lower the age profile a little. Arriva Bus & Coach dealer stock DAF / Wrights Commander YJ04 HJD at Belle Isle prior to being painted into fleet livery. YJ04 HJC DAF/Wrights Commander awaiting preperation for service at Belle Isle. Snap! the other Carlyle Dart pounding the streets of Selby. Meanwhile Ex West Riding Optare Metrorider 722 now with Stringers of Pontefract. Optare Metrorider 727 passed on to Arriva in the north east. Seen pounding the streets of Croydon is ex West Riding Olympian. Caldaire's coaching unit When new Leyland Leopard / Willowbrook in Saville St depot before entering service. Caldaire Holdings livery trial, reverse of final choice. Arriva Yorkshire hand down to Scotland was Optare Metrorider original Yorkshire number 711. Ex West Riding National II with fellow British Bus Company, Crosville. National II of West Riding with non-standard badge, them were the days when the depot engineer had an interest in buses. Caldaire liveried National II number 202, now in preservation. The second livery trial of Caldaire on a Leyland National. Wakefields old Bus Station in the snow & the elegant lines of a Bristol FLF. Leyland National II in National Bus red of West Riding Selby. Caldaire transfer from Yorkshire WD to Sheffield & District. ECW bodied Atlantean. A Leyland National acquired for the Sheffield & District fleet. Just one of many used examples of Nationals for Sheffield & District Last days of Thompson Travel before takeover by TM Travel West Riding under Caldaire bought in a number used National 2's CCY 817V being one of them. Allover add as opposed to an overall add. Quite new Lynx in Belle Isle yard. Back a few years West Riding Leyland Panther with Plaxton body. Selby Olympian 510 seen at the back of Belle Isle, possibly there for a repaint. At the bus stop at Alverthorpe terminus. Used National 2's were numbered after West Ridings own 201 - 215. after Lynx 216 C920 FMP was renumbered 252 to start the Lynx numbering sequence. Behind Cut End, Dewsbury is Olympian 560.

Rhyl open top service 2006. Still going strong in 2006 smart looking Bristol VR. Great Yarmouth seafront service was operated by this fine Leyland Atlantean of Caroline Seagull. First in Weston-Super-Mare plying for trade on the sea front. Here again by virtue of being an open topper is Greyscroft AEC Reliance. One of Roadcars Skegness open toppers. Dents yard a haven for ex Corporation Buses, Ipswich Metrorider, Thamesdown Dominator & Southend Fleetline. Operating into Boston is Elsey's Iveco???(I'm not up on Iveco's). Daimler Fleetline of Kime's with a reg plate that diguises its original identity. A tall ECW bodied Bristol VR of Kime's, with a dateless plate. An Applebys Dodge Minibus operating into Lincoln. Applebys aquired Leyland Olympian laying over at Ingoldmells. Brylaine of Boston with a Leyland Lynx II in Skegness. Greyscroft of Mabelthorpe operated this Open Top AEC Reliance for a while. On loan to Hornsby, DAF / Northern Counties. One of only five Renault PR100's, two with Hornsby & three at Luton Airport. Delaines very nice preserved Leyland Atlantean with Willowbrook bodywork. Another Applebys Leyland Oplymian laying over between duty's. New to Scunthorpe Independent, Hornsby Travel, is DAF SB120 Wright / Cadet. Still going strong is ex Nottingham Leyland Atlantean with Hornsby Travel Scunthorpe 2002.

Arriva... thats all they want to tell us on the side. One of Two Optare Spectras acquired with the takeover of Stevensons. Erm well ! Ayats Atlantis bodied DAF with Barton of Maynooth. DAF Ikarus one of several of the model now in use with Bartons. Metrorider of BlueBus, ex Reading. DAF Ikarus Polaris, not a alot around, of Blue Bus Bullocks of Manchester is just one of many independants in the area. An early low floor Optare Spectra with Bullocks, Manchester. Whilst passing through Manchester, Bullocks is worth a look for its variety of bodywork. Northern Counties. Bullocks East Lancs. Bullocks East Lancs of another kind. Now in service with Finglands is Volvo Citybus G618 OTV. First Volvo Citybus Alexander 30356 in Manchester. Not a native to Manchester, a Volvo CityBus. East Lancs rebodied Volvo on a Dunn-Line excursion at Ingoldmells. Early Wallasey Leyland Atlantean having been absorbed by Merseyside Transport. Notts & Derby Leyland National 517 in Derby Bus Station 2002 MK52 YCP on rail replacement services at Leeds Station. This is at The Scottish Bus Museum, Lathalmond. AEC Swift with Pennine Bodywork. Great Yarmouth AEC Swift 77 departs long before the Ex London Country Swift with atractive Alexander W type bodywork. Seen in Ipswich Bus Station, East Lancs bodied Swift. Great Yarmouth Swift with Willowbrook bodywork, ECW bodied Great Yarmouth Swift 83 before the stripey livery at Caister Rd Depot. Great Yarmouth Swift 87 at the West Riding Swift with Marshall bodywork. Now preserved at Carlton Coalville is Lowestoft Corporstion 4 YRT 898H. Gt Yarmouth 79 in that darned bus station, by this time Swifts were getting rare in service. Another fine looking Great Yarmouth Swift number 85 at the District Hospital again.
